Ohio schools offer education with an international focus

Schools across our country, and throughout Central Ohio, consistently look for ways to interject new and varied learning experiences into their curricula.  Many school systems opt to bring speakers into their buildings to give students experiences that they might otherwise never have.  Some choose to look outside of their walls by taking field trips to engage students in activities within the community, or even via some form of videoconferencing.

Over the last several years, several schools in the Columbus area have opted to pursue a curriculum offered by the International Baccalaureate Organization.  According to the I.B.O., "The International Baccalaureate® (IB) offers high quality programmes of international education to a worldwide community of schools. There are more than 813,000 IB students at 2,935 schools in 139 countries."

Three schools in Central Ohio chose to pursue this idea: Columbus Alternative, Upper Arlington, and Westerville South High Schools.  As the idea became more widely known and recognized, other school districts like Dublin, Bexley, and Worthington joined in.
