·       The American Medical Association should expel from its membership any “doctor” who works for a health  insurance company. It’s a conflict of interest and a violation of the Hippocratic Oath. Doctors are supposed to provide health care. Health insurance companies prevent people from getting health care. I don’t care how many medical schools you went to. If you work for a health insurance company, you are not a doctor.

·       If your race is not supposed to make a difference in the way you’re treated, then why are we still asking the question? I always list myself as “human”. On the last census, my husband and son listed themselves as “earthlings”.

·       Real life is not like your TV. Stuff takes time.

·     The roving DUI patrols by many police departments, in which they block a road and stop every driver to check for intoxication, violate the Fourth Amendment to the US Constitution. And I don’t care what the Supreme Court says.

·     The problem in Washington is that the Republicans have no morals and the Democrats have no “spine”.

·       If you don’t want to serve on jury duty, tell the judge that when you are arrested for a crime, you will be happy to sit in prison, without a trial or an attorney, for as long as the cops want to leave you there. That's fair.

·       What part of the word “option” do people not understand?

·       There will be abortions as long as there are pregnant women. THAT is why we need real sex education and contraceptive education in schools.

·       I’m so tired of people whose goal in life is to be a big fish in a small pond.

·       The United States has a substantial nuclear arsenal.  Why do our political leaders think they have the right to prevent other nations from having their own nuclear weapons?  I’m certainly not in favor of nukes, but why do we think we can make the rules for everyone else?

·       And speaking of nukes, why is it that we can make nuclear power plants some of the safest places on earth to work, but we can’t make our coal mines safe?

·       And speaking of mines, would it be at all feasible to bury our garbage in abandoned mines, instead of in landfills? There are mines all over the world. I think it would help the environment, create jobs, and probably have other benefits as well. Is this worth considering?

·       When there is a disaster involving a private company, such as an airline or coal mine, the company should be forbidden to control the flow of information to the families of the victims. They have a conflict of interest.

·       The government’s web portal, www.usa.gov, should be on your favorites list. I use it every day.

·       There is not, and has never been, a bottomless barrel of welfare cash available for anyone who wants it. Corporate America would revolt if they had to jump through the same hoops as real people for just a little bit of help.

·       We have an unrelated batch of social assistance and income security programs, designed separately over several decades to help people facing hard times. We need a welfare system.

·       The health insurance reform bill, America's Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009,is HR 3200. You can read the entire text online.  Yes, I did.

·       Republican claims of voter fraud are a farce. The United States does not have a problem with people voting too many times.  We have enough trouble getting people to vote at all. And who benefits from suppressing the vote?

We don't have trash in mines because it would pollute the groundwater. Modern landfills are designed to minimize contact with water including being built above the high water table. They collect and properly treat or dispose of any leachate that collects in the landfill, such as infiltration that occurs when it is still being filled.

They are also meticulous about preventing hazardous waste from being disposed of in municipal landfills. A little still gets in through household or office trash, but industrial hazardous waste has to go to special treatment and disposal facilities.

It's not like the old days. Of course they are still ugly and smelly but so are sewage treatment plants.
