March is Hug-A-Teacher Month, and it is also indirectly a chance to "Help A Classroom" through Build-a-Bear and Donors Choose.
Build-a-Bear is encouraging customers to "Hug-A-Teacher" and to buy $10 GivingCards, which gives children access to buildabearville.com, which is an online virtual world similar to Webkinz. Build-a-Bear is has two stores in Oklahoma. One is at Penn Square Mall in Oklahoma City, and one is at Woodland Hills Mall in Tulsa.
Buying the GivingCards at Build-A-Bear Workshop gives $10 to Donors Choose, an grassroots philanthropic organization that has helped many classrooms in Oklahoma and around the United States.
Donors Choose, the Stephen Colbert-endorsed foundation, collects donations from multiple sources of donations to fund teacher projects.Although many donations come from citizen philanthropists who fund donate money to projects they believe in funding, Oklahoma teachers have recently been fortunate enough to have half of their grants funded by the Donors Choose partner, The Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Foundation.
