23 schools from LAUSD are on the state list of the worst schools

The List

What do you do think about this Superintendent Cortines? Have you been too busy with other interests like Scholastic Books; have you been too busy fighting the teacher’s union; have you been too busy keeping the bureaucracy intact and cutting from the schools to notice and make changes?

What about the School Board members? Have you been too busy looking for name recognition and higher elective office, and listening to the downtown administrators tell you what they want you to hear in order to keep themselves downtown rather than in the schools; have you been too busy to visit these schools and talk to the staff and students and find out the root causes of the problems and figure out the solutions?

What about the Local District administrators and  their staffs and downtown administrators and  their staffs, has the same old been working? How long have these schools been on the lists of the worst schools? Have you tried to isolate the issues and change from within or are you too busy CYA?

Has busy really meant not caring or disinterested? Go ahead and blame the teachers, you always do. Many of them travel great distances to communities with major social issues and poverty, in order to teach. They are dedicated.

No wonder the ACLU is suing LAUSD over the termination of the greatly needed teachers at so many under performing schools.

It is too late for the students who have passed through these schools and lost their future. It is not too late for the current students to have an education and a future. It is not up to them!

People at the top of LAUSD have the power to resurrect these schools and to save these students, but will they?

I have written about LAUSD using its English Language learners to earn money and now the United States Department of Education is investigating whether LAUSD provides apppropriate services to students learning English.

I haven't been too busy to see the affect of the budget cuts at our local schools. These cuts have deeply affected the standards and programs available to our kids.

The only thing that is missing is the cuts to the 3000+ highly paid administrative employees at the Beaudry Building downtown. Cut the hundreds of consultants and attorneys that pull in six figure salaries from the budget that is too busy cutting programs and teachers from the classrooms. Do we really need all of them more than the kids need teachers? I think not. How about the teachers that continue to pull paychecks while they are being investigated for sexual harrassment and inappropriate behavior, I think they could be cut out of the budget without crying a tear.

The teachers and administrative unions needs to rethink how they deal with these failed teachers as well as their rules of teacher evaluations. Seems they only care about preserving the rights of the staff, not the success or safety of our students.
