Looking for a fun way to spend Saturday morning with the kids? Take them to Saranac Lake where the town is hosting a community celebration to grease the wheels on their plans to bring an old-fashioned carousel to William Morris Park.
There will be games, crafts, music, clowns and a lot of food on hand at the park from Saturday, July 24th from 10am to 1pm (rain or shine). The kids will have a great time and you can learn more about the plan to renovate the park and build the new carousel house and community events spaces. You will also get a discount book good at more than 20 local merchants.
They’re looking for donations and volunteers to bring their plan to reality, and you could help bring a unique attraction to the lovely village of Saranac Lake.The Adirondack Carousel project was recently awarded a $100,000 grant from the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, in addition to previous funds raised of over $400,000. They just need a few more able bodies to help them set their plans in motion. The project has its own website with lots more information.
Aside from the celebration for the kids, while you are in Saranac Lake, you can also visit the many galleries on Main Street in this quickly growing art hamlet, or the artists studios at the Adirondack Artists Guild (open from 10am to 5pm), where they are currently featuring a show by Ursula Trudeau, called “In and Out,” which opened last Friday July 16th.
