The official Playstation blog just announced that Netflix will be fully integrated into the PS3 operating system by next month. For some people, it's a great extension to the the PS3's already large media functions. For others, it's an alternative choice to the Playstation Store's video section.
By first class mail and free delivery, Netflix members and PS3 users will be able to get the instant streaming disc and start right away. New users who are unfamiliar with the rate, it is quoted at $8.99 a month for unlimited streaming of TVs and movies, as well as unlimited DVD rentals The Blu-Ray BD-Live technology will also be integrated by default.
During this recent quarter, there is no question that the Playstation 3 is not only creating its own island but also trying to match competitor Microsoft in lagging areas. Even Microsoft's website still says "Xbox 360 is the only game system that lets you instantly watch movies and TV episodes streamed from Netflix." It's a true fact, at least until next month.
With the technological advantage, good Blu-ray support will just add icing to the cake. PS3 owners are reclaiming all the praise back this month, and now we have yet one more reason to lounge around this holiday season.
