Atheist takes on Christians at the Christian Book Expo
Its hardly fair, but I’m still glad they did it. Atheist author Christopher Hitchens (God is Not Great: How Religion Poisons Everything) took on Christian apologists at the Dallas Convention Center on Saturday at the Christian Book Expo. Among the apologists were Douglas Wilson, who co-wrote a book with Hitchens documenting their debate. Also there, Lee Strobel of Case for Christ fame, who was a former atheist journalist himself.
While there weren’t many details issued about the debate itself, all of the participants kept it pretty contained within the two hour presentation. They discussed the same old, same old... "if God's real, then why does he let people suffer?" "Because man has free will" and because it's all about relationship.... snore....snore
The good thing about all this is that it happened at all. Dallas, as religious as it is, doesn't necessarily invite open conversations by those not of a like mind. I hope that we get to see more events like this one in the days to come.

You can listen to a podcast which was recorded immediately following the panel debate, featuring panels William Lane Craig and Christopher Hitchens, at www.apologia-podcast.net
if god gives people free will then why do so many claim that their prayers have been answered?... you can not make an argument for free will and devine intervention. they are contradictory arguments that the religious use in the same argument.
