Since Sarah Palin announced her intention to resign as governor of Alaska on the eve of Independence Day, speculation has run wild on Palin's decision to resign from the post.
It has been reported that even those who are close to her had no inkling of what she was planning though the Governor says the plan to quit had been in the works for a couple of months.
The most prevalent theories regarding Palin's impending resignation are that she is quitting in order to focus on a run for the White House in 2012 or that she faces charges for embezzlement of funds from her days as Mayor of Wasilla.
The company that was given the contract to build an ice hockey sports complex in Wasilla, Spenard Building Supplies, also built the Palin's home using the same materials. SBS has close ties to Todd Palin, the governor's husband.
The investigation into what is essentially bid rigging in Wasilla has been ongoing for some time and both Democratic and Republican pundits have assumed that Governor Palin would throw her hat in the GOP presidential ring for 2012. Neither of these issues is new so why has the Governor decided to resign now?
There are plenty of other theories circulating about why Sarah Palin decided to resign from her duties as governor of Alaska. Some have posited that the governor is pregnant or that the recent scathing report about her in Vanity Fair hurt her feelings so much that she decided to get out of politics altogether.

I read the text of the speech--not too impressed. If a staffer wrote it, they should be fired. If Palin wrote it, she has no business labeling herself a "writer" under this book deal.

Who is suing her? For what?
I think she quit so she can go on a speech making circuit. That way she can make more money. If she ever thought of running for president, she's ruined her chances but what difference does that make when she really didn't have a chance? Can you see her debating Mitt Romney? She's be raked over the coals. She would never get the nomination. She's really just not good enough. She's good at inspiring the conservative base of the party but that's not enough to win an election as we saw last November.
