promotes honest
Glenn Beck reminds his viewers often, and his true believers, the 9-12ers and the Tea Party foremost, obviously believe him. "This is about the truth," Glenn Beck repeats time and again; but is it? Some of Beck's critics claim that Mr. Beck doesn't lie; he's just ignorant of the facts. Without a doubt Beck addresses many subjects from a position of ideology or wishful thinking and not from a position of training or knowledge. He's not ignorant about everything he discusses, but many of his models of reality make absolutely no sense. It's one thing to reject a liberal bias in knowledge and truth; it's quite another to discard that much of the canon of Western political theory for the sake of some personal innovation. For more on Beck's ignorance about what upholds the American Constitution, see "Beck: thinker, pundit or charlatan?"
On his Fox show the day after Beck had defended Shirley Sherrod on the 20th, he noted how they [the media, bloggers, the NAACP, the White House] turned against her and then claimed "they were talking about how I damaged this woman and I hurt her career. I'm sorry. I think the only time I talked about her, I supported her. That's weird."
political ally
Beck had defended her only after he somehow came to understand that there was a bigger context involved with the recording Beck's ally, Andrew Breitbart, had released on his blog, lies about BigGovernment.com. It's possible that Beck watched CNN that afternoon, because in the morning, he was not supporting her. On the contrary, on his morning program on Premier Radio Networks, he said that they "have a video of tape of a USDA administration official discriminating against white farmers." He asked, "Have we suddenly transported into 1956 except it's the other way around? ... Does anybody else have a sense that there are some that just want revenge? Doesn't it feel that way?" After playing the audio of the tape, he added, "You tell me what part of the gospel is teaching that." This audio is available at Media Matters for America.
Beck is exhorting his followers to be honest with the days to his Restoring Honor rally counting down, but he can't or won't depart from his true and tried method to say whatever he thinks he can get away with because his supporters don't bother fact checking his claims - even though he has recently told them too!
This isn't ignorance, nor is this getting the facts wrong. He spoke the words himself less than 32 hours earlier! This is a bald-faced lie! If this is forgetfulness that requires less than 48 hours to occur, then he really is not qualified to do anything but lie and lie about lying because he can't remember what he said the day before. Beck is either a bald-faced liar and a hypocrite, or he is not qualified, memory wise, to have a major network television show.

Sounds like Victor is a little jealous of Glenn in a sophmoric way.
Yo, Vic!
So as not to seem like the totally arrogant hypocrite you appear to be, no doubt you are preparing a "fair and balanced" expose on all the times Obama has LIED such as:
when he said he will not sign any non-emergency bill without giving the American public an opportunity to review and comment on the White House website for five days, (as opposed to the many bills signed within hours or days of passage) or
when he said, we'll have (healthcare) negotiations televised on C-SPAN, so that people can see who is making arguments on behalf of their constituents, and who are making arguments on behalf of the drug companies or the insurance companies, (as opposed to holding the meetings behind closed doors) or
when he said he was, committed to returning earmarks to less than $7.8 billion a year, the level they were at before 1994," (as opposed to the $15.9 billion he has already approved for 2010) or
when he promised no federal funds would be used to provide abortion
O.B: My focus is on Glenn Beck, not President Obama. What you are addressing are broken promises, not lies. Why don't you know the difference? Because Fox is brainwashing you into ignorance. Next time, address the President's broken promises because lying about the future is unintelligible. Plans, hopes, promises are not lies, cannot be lies. They don't say that on Fox "News," and liar Limbaugh is too uneducated to even understand something this "complex." So is Beck.
j.b.: Why don't you address that fact that Beck told a blatant lie in the time frame when he's telling his viewers to become more honest and truthful in the lead up to his Restoring Honor rally? Because another sleazy, right wing tactic is to attack the messenger when you realize that the message is not something becoming to your side of the isle...way over there in the reactionary corner that Beck and Limbaugh operate from.
Victor, I don't know what your kind ("enlightened
progressives") call a broken promise, but in the real
world we call a broken promise a "lie".
It's sad & funny to watch you try to attack Beck for
a lie that never happened, then defend the many lies
of Dear Leader Obamao. The only reason we read "enlightened"
progressive trash like this is for laughs. Your time
is up & you know it.
Luckyjoe, the "real world" you describe is the made up world of Fox "News." If breaking campaign promises makes a President a liar, then every President is a liar. Calling Obama one means nothing. However, in the world of three digit IQ's, a broken promise is not a lie. Conservatives want to have their beliefs re-enforced, and for that Fox fits the bill. The laugh, Joe, is on you and your ilk.
I have not defended lies from anyone; you are being ignorant with this claim. I have also pointed out that on Monday, Glenn Beck was right on with his criticism of the CIA targeting of American citizens for assassination. Does that make Beck progressive or does that make me a reactionary? It shows that politics sometimes makes for strange bed fellows.
Sometimes Beck is right on. So is a broken clock.
Fox "News" proved this week again that they are not fair and balanced, they are not a news network, and that they are not interested on getting the facts. Only the gullible are fooled any more.
Lol, this jacka@# Victor Tiffany is a bald jacka@# calling Beck "a bald faced liar." Listen to the pot calling the kettle black. Epic Fail, Victor! Go back to your basement and keep blogging, loser!
Fox "News" proved this week again that they are not fair and balanced, they are not a news network, and that they are not interested on getting the facts. Only the gullible are fooled any more.
Sam, you are name calling. That does not make you come across as mature or reasoned. Address the bald-faced lie that I point out if you can wrap your mind around it.
Unbelievable... Anyone who calls out Beck for what he really is gets the tables turned around and they are mad to look like idiots.
I'm a MIDDLE of the road American who's sick of BOTH sides. Glenn Beck doesn't appeal to me; and that should worry conservatives. I'm NEITHER a democrat or republican - both sides have their blowhards and on the right, Glenn Beck is one of them.
Keep thinking America is leaning more right, it isn't the left is just leaning more centric. Wake up to that or realize 8 years from now your party will be a minority representation of the political view across a WIDE RANGE of Americans.
"made" not "mad"; sorry keyboard on the fritz.
I have to say that I wish there were more people out there who took the time to say how much of what Mr Beck says is complete non-sense. I honestly pity the multitude of people who are daily swayed by the ridiculous statements that Glenn Beck makes. What is more striking to me is how he is able to make absolutely contradictory and inflammatory statements within days of each other with no accountability from either his own news network or from the mainstream media. Glenn Beck is entitled to his own opinions, but often uses a "news network" to pass his information off as fact. With his lunatic and somehow perceived "credible" rants, the line between fact and opinion is blurred and looks often more like yelling fire in a crowded theater than informing the public. Thank you for being astute in noticing the stark contradictions. I would have rather seen a more mature way to address it than calling Mr. Beck a "bald-faced liar" but I also understand the importance of getting to the truth
j, I used strong language for a reason. First, he's promoting honesty one day and lying about his treatment of Sharrod the next. The other reason I used such a strident headline was to make the point. I've been subtle up to this headline, and it seems to pass over the perceptions of his followers like just another cloud passing by. This got their attention.
They think, they claim that he's honest. When I got this firm, concrete example of Beck lying, flat out lying; I called him out.
Someone on another news source asked how I keep my sanity focusing on Beck like I do. It's not my sanity that needs controlling; it's my temper. The bald-faced liar was a snippet of that temper coming out...as well as I knew that the story put Beck's claim to telling the truth to shame, or perhaps to sham.
He said "the only time I talked about "her", I defended her". Prior he was talkin about the audio and the apparent prejudice. Did you hear her name mentioned? Be mindful about bearing false witness.
Agreed, Beck is being less than honest here. His recommenations on Goldline may not be very cost effective. I hate to play devil's advocate, but wouldn't it be something to hold our alleged president and others to half the standard you hold your arch enemy Glenn Beck to?
I watched the show Glenn did not lie....
Victor: I have no objections to using strong language in this case. Like I said before, I'm just glad someone else notices the insane contradictions this man is making and swaying the public with. It's discouraging to know that in a day of such a wealth of knowledge available so many people choose to blindly cling to the idea that people like Glenn Beck or Hannity are 100% honest and objective without checking into it themselves. I actually listened to the tape of Glenn Beck when he bashed Sharrod and then two days later listened to him boast in how he was supportive all along.
Bigger issue here is that a "news" agency is allowed to propagate any narrative they want with no accountability as to whether it is accurate or researched at all.
Bryan, what are you denying, that Beck said " the only time I talked about her, I supported her" or what he can be hear off the link from his radio program? He was not supporting her in the morning. All of these were his words. He said them; he lied on his show.
Hal, "our alleged president" In what world do you live? One of the problems with the right is that many have not accepted that he won the election. Hal, Barack Obama is our President. You want to focus on him, start a blog with the thousands of others. The only standards I hold Beck to here is to do what he preaches: tell the truth!
Lee, " Did you hear her name mentioned?" Do you know of any other USDA official who was forced to resign? Be mindful of trying to defend the indefensible!
Mr. Tiffany,
You seem to have a VERY unhealthy obsession with Mr. Beck. Simply *mentioning* the video on his radio show is not talking about Sherrod, or what happened. You are so wrapped up in "exposing" Mr. Beck as a liar, sham, etc. that you will grab on to a little thing like this! This is so out of context of what he meant. He said he did not talk about HER on his show and when he did, he supported her. That is the truth. You are a strange, bizarre man. Almost all of your articles are attacks, and on Beck's Facebook, you act like an ass. Flat out LIES from YOU. YOU are the liar. CLEARLY.
Margie; he did not say "on his show." I transcribed it. He repeated, "that's weird" and went on. No, you have a problem with me because I have the audacity to call Beck out on his lies and hypocrisy.
If being a watch dog of the media is an "obsession," then so be it. You accuse me of being a "liar," tell me where I get something wrong. I will make a correction. That's journalism, something people who support Beck are not used to. I "act like an ass" on Beck's website (not facebook) because I call Mr. Beck out. I'm not sorry, and I'm not backing down.
Tell me how he supported her by calling her a "Marxist" on his show. Was this true because she worked to help poor people, or was she a Christian doing Jesus' work? If Beck ever "supports" me, I'm hiring a lawyer.
Why doesn't Beck ever debate his detractors? They have asked. Why won't he exchange links to each others' site with me? I have asked.
I caught Beck in a bald-faced lie; live with it!
Americans need to wake up the fact that Beck is simply another opinion pushing charlatan who is a product of mormon cult theology and he mixes this with his personal make up as a dry alcoholic. On his radio show and Fox Network program he consistent demonstrates all the unstable behaviors of a dry alcoholic which include grandiosity, judgmentalism, intolerance, impulsivity, ADD and indecisiveness. Alongside that reality, Glenn Beck does not possess a single ounce of journalistic integrity, has no college degree, has no qualifications and he is definitely not a true conservative. But then, what can anyone expect from someone who can't find anything filthier than their own personal reflection. Since people like Beck cannot survive on the basis of any personal merits, they survive by putting others down with lies and half truths in order to feel good about themselves. The truth about Beck is that he a dry mormon alcoholic who never got the counseling required for alcoholics. To further complicate things and confuse people, Beck flippantly throws around Christian terms like "God", "Jesus","Holy Spirit" as well as voices of other so called "Spirit Powers" on his radio talk show. Beck is a mormon in active standing with the mormon church and is not a Christian. Mormonism teaches many gods, that the god of the earth was once a man who attained godhood status, there is no trinity, the cross of Christ means nothing and that Jesus Christ and Satan were brothers. Because Beck does not possess a single ounce of journalistic integrity, he is the perfect abortion poster child for Fox Network. The people who love what Beck says are no different than the impressionable sheep who loved every speech made by Adolph Hitler in his early years when he brought Germany into an era of economic prosperity These same sheep also blindly followed Hitler into one of the darkest chapters of world history. Beck and the Fox Network both cater to the same lowest common denominator of demagoguery. Beck would not know the first thing about God as he is a mormon. Someone should ask him which of the many mormon gods he kept talking about during his argument with himself on Saturday on the square in DC. Like a typical dry alcoholic, Beck even lied on national television when he spoke about holding a document signed by George Washington. That event never took Place. Unfortunately, people who love being led around by the nose do not realize that he is talking about a different god than that of Christianity, Judaism or Islam and that he has been a product of mormonism cultism from the day he started doing a radio talk show as an opinion pusher. You don't have to have a degree in psychology to see that he exhibits all the signs of a dry alcoholic. The only reason this unstable impressionable idiot fell into mormonism was because the woman he wanted to have sex with would not do so unless they got first got married and from that point, they joined the mormon cult. Glenn Beck is as big a charlatan as Josephs Smith or the 5th grade graduate (Charles T Russell) who started the Jehovah's Witness cult. This is Glenn Beck in a very accurate & concise nutshell. Considering the fact that Becks personal views are extreme Marxist Libertarian, his form of patriotism is false and he is a person who has no real substance or depth. It will not surprise many of use when Beck’s next big thing is to come out of the closet and announce his homosexuality to the nation. Simply put…he is just another political neocon.
The previous commenter is on the left wings payroll. He has posted his same rant word for word across the internet using different names in an attempt to slander conservative voices.
Folks please don't blame the anonymous poster for his misguided statements against the
Glenn Beck expose. He was never the sharpest knife in the drawer. It is not his fault that he was impressionable enough to become a tea--bagger. We tried to raise him better then that but he just could never pleasure a woman. As a result...he is a GOP tea---bagger. As soon as he finishes masturbating to Christine O Donnell's photos on the Fox Network, the lust will have passed and Sarah Palin will be back to being his darling.
Hey Simp, It's BOLD-faced liar. And no, Beck is not one of those either....
