Tiger and the Gold Digger? What Tiger could learn from politicians

Tiger Woods please say it ain’t so! Named the Associated Press “Athlete of the Year”, a record-tying four times, having the distinction of being the only person to be named Sports Illustrated magazine’s “Sportsmen of the year”, more than once, and being blessed to be a financially stress less husband with a beautiful family, why in the name of Ben Hogan, Mr. Woods, would you be drawn to a “Gold Digger”?

The Definition of a Gold Digger

OK, creating the ambiance to the prelude of the definition of “Gold Digger” is important. Using your imagination, pretend that Kanye West’s song “Gold Digger”, – with Jamie Foxx contributing his guest vocals, as inspired by Ray Charles –is playing in the background.

Gold Digger: a woman who associates with or marries a rich man in order to get valuables from him through gifts or a divorce settlement. Tiger pay attention!

Fallen into the web?

As most of the world has discovered in the last 48 hours, Eldrick Tont Woods, more commonly known as “Tiger Woods”, has been snarled in a Black Widow’s web that is full of mystery, intrigue and the accusations of infidelity.

At the center of the web is Tiger Woods, his wife Elin Nordegren and a woman / gold digger?? Whose name is Rachel Uchitel.

In the early morning hours of November 27, the day after Thanksgiving Day, Tiger Woods was involved in a single-car accident outside his home in Isleworth, a gated community in Orlando, Florida.

According to police reports, Tiger, driving a Cadillac Escalade, struck a fire hydrant and tree at a fairly low speed. (The airbags didn’t deploy.) His wife, Elin, hearing the accident from inside the couple’s house, came to Tiger’s assistance. According to reports, Elin broke the back window of the vehicle with a golf club to rescue her husband. Tiger had cuts and blood in his mouth, and was unconscious for several minutes. He was treated at a local hospital and released.

Mounting accusations and innuendos in regard to an extramarital affair between Rachel Uchitel and Tiger are surfacing. A reported friend of Ms. Uchitel has even stated that Rachel told her that she and Tiger “were in love”.

Tales of arguments between Tiger and his wife over the relationship between him and Rachel Uchitel, has fueled speculation that the world’s number one golfer – excuse the pun – has been on the “prowl”. This speculated insatiable appetite for late night / early morning “snacks” may be the reason why the Woods family has had little to say as in regard to the details of what really happened that eventful Friday morning.

Lessons to be learned

If there are lessons for Tiger to learn from his personal but now public melodrama, it’s the lessons of past and present politicians who were guilty of infidelity. The late Massachusetts (D) Senator Ted Kennedy was destined as many believed, to one day become the President of the United States, and had it not been for his boozing and womanizing this may have occurred.

Let’s not forget South Carolina Governor (R) Mark Sanford's romantic disappearance in Argentina with María Belén Chapur or Nevada Senator (R) John Ensign's fling with a campaign aide, Cynthia Hampton, and of course Senator David Vitter's "serious sin" involving an escort service.

Although it can be argued that these politicians have so far survived their “indiscretions”, “trust” from family - and in all of these men’s cases, trust from the public - is something that’s hard to recover. Tiger, Pay attention!

Money and fame attract gold diggers. Whether the gold digger is a female or a male, they’re on the prowl looking for another “sugar daddy / sugar mama”.

I sincerely hope that Tiger and his family survive the scrutiny of the next few days – perhaps weeks – of media inquiry and intrusive news coverage. I suspect they will. In fact if I were a betting man, I would bet that Tiger’s wife Elin, has already phoned NBA superstar Kobe Bryant’s wife Vanessa, for marital and diamond ring advice.

My wife made me write this story…I mean uh…I thought it was important to talk about male indiscretions and the women who are attracted to powerful and famous / rich men. Thank God I’m neither.

As always Louisianans, the Examiner.Com is interested in what you think. Is extramarital “hanky panky” behind Tiger’s car accident? Has Elin Woods already contacted Vanessa Bryant? Inquiring minds want to know. Sound off.

Until next time Louisianans, Good Day, God Bless and Good Fishing.

Elin whooped his tail with that golf club, how else did Tiger have lacerations to the face and mouth without his SUVs air bag engaging? The woman from Scandinavia went "Viking" on Tiger.

Well Mr.Woods looks like you made a mistake in choosing the right mate.I think everyone should respect tiger's right to his privacy and let him deal this matter in his own way.As a public figure it is very hard to have any privacy.Good luck Tiger.

She showed her true colors..it was only a matter of time. Bob was right, if he was a regular guy she wouldn't have given him the time of day. Get real - she was a NANNY. Just like a black man to scrape underneath the bottom of the barrel.

Once a golddigger, always a golddigger.

Your WIFE MADE YOU WRITE THIS STORY????? Well, then, GOOD for your wife!! Seriously, I can see not only the late-night pundits, but also YOU really had a little fun with Tiger's predicament. Elin contacting Vanessa for ring and infidelity advice? This is rich! And GB while you are advising, please encourage Tiger to "prowl" a little more upscale in his forages. Well, that was a little MEAN, wasn't it. Sorry! My bad! [Just calling it like I see it. Can't fault me too much for that. . . .] Aside from having a little fun at Tiger's expense, I really do support his privelege for privacy. In all seriousness, I do feel sorry for him and hope the best for his eventual family restoration.

To MLiza: Young lady it's always great to hear from you. You humble me with your kind words. Yes m'am I had fun with this article. However, I really don't feel sorry for Tiger. At the end of the day, he's going to be alright. :) If something like that had happened to a "regular" guy, that regular guy would be living at the YMCA. :) Tiger can take the West Wing of the Estate. Keep on inspiring me MLiza. You make me laugh. Until the next episode....GB

If it had been an attack on Tiger's wife. Tiger would be sitting in jail and the investigation would have ongoing. Cheating is a hurtful ordeal. For some couples it is almost like having a traitor in the family. Many people give excuses for why they cheated and some SOB'S are just plain arrogrant and out right disrespectful about their infidelity. Whether Tiger cheated once or a hundred time, I believe he is humble and very sincere in working on keeping his family together and never ever doing this again. Many of us learn from our mistakes and became a changed person. Tiger need some privacy and space to right his wrong. Let it go.

Everybody feels sorry for Erin but she knew exactly what she was doing when she came to this country as a nanny to snare a rich catch. Why else would someone with her academic credentials work as a nanny? She set out to find and catch someone like Tiger. He fell right into her trap. to seal the deal, she had two babies for him to ensure that she would get a multimillion dollar settlement at divorce time. I think she went into the marriage knowing that it would soon end in divorce. Now she is laughing all the way to the bank!!!! Don't criticize the victim (Tiger) but put the blame where it belongs. Miss Erin was no saint!!!!!

Corrections to the last comment. Sorry. The golddigger's name is Elin, not Erin.
