All too often when we watch the news we are bombarded by national and international news that is gloomy and sad. With the advent of 24 hour cable news in our lives we are fed an “unbalanced meal” of despair and hopelessness; unexplainable violence, war, crime, perverts, H1N1 and of course unemployment.

Well, its 15 days before Christmas and in an attempt to balance an indigestible buffet of bad news with a healthy serving of positivity, I’ve come across a Christmas video that is dedicated to our American troops. This video reminds me of all the simple things in my life that make me grateful to God for my family and friends, both near and far.

Hopefully this video will brighten your day and help us all remember that as we put stress on ourselves in regard to how we’re going to be able to afford to buy gifts for many of our family and friends this holiday season, there are American heroes stationed far away from home who bravely serve and whose Christmas gift wishes are far less material yet far more valuable than what most of us wish for.

Lest we forget that it’s not about the “buying” that makes Christmas special, it’s the story of the miracle of the birth of baby Jesus in the manger, the sharing of good foods with family and friends, the singing of Christmas songs and of course, the hugs and wrapping of arms around loved ones that makes Christmas the special holiday that it is.

To all the troops that serve and protect, "Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year" !

To Christians worldwide and especially to everyone who lives in Louisiana and our nations other 49 states, a very Merry Christmas to you and yours. I know it’s a little early for some to begin the “Merry Christmas” greeting but for those of us who live in the bayou; it’s never too early to celebrate.  Pass the crawfish and eggnog mon chere, it's Christmas.

Until the next time Louisianans, Good Day, God Bless and Good Fishing.

A great article and reminder that there are so many who will not be home to celebrate Christmas as they are far away protecting us. Wish we could put our arms around all of them and wish them a very Merry Christmas. God Bless!

To Nandi: Now wouldn't bringing back all the troops home be a great Christmas present for all Americans? Heck, after nearly ten years we need to end these wars and rebuild American lives and American infrastructure. The Greenie Report is in production. :) Merry Christmas and Happy Kwanza to you and yours. GB

I did not have the christmas spirit, but after looking at this video I am going to buy a fresh Christmas tree. To Gregroy Boyce and family, enjoy your Christmas and make it special this year.

To Carol: Remember that Christmas is not about measured in amount spent on charge cards, it's measured in sharing love and good food with family and friends. Get the kids together Carol and watch Dr. Seuss' "The grinch who stole Christmas" and then laugh together. Talk about the miracle of the birth of the baby Jesus in the manger. Put on some Nat King Cole, and drink some egg nog. It's that simple. The Lord Willing, the 26th of December will come and you'll have less stress in your life. We all know that Christ was not born on the 25th of December. This is a merchant's holiday. If you have the money to spend, then by all means indulge, but if you don't have the money, then indulge on family, friends and good food. Merry Christmas Carol. GB
