About the legacy of Ted Kennedy

By now anyone with any knowledge of politics knows that Senator Ted Kennedy has died. He was the symbolism of the liberal movement in America since well, before I was even born. He was a fierce advocate for civil rights for African Americans, women and was a fierce advocate for gays and lesbians civil rights. He supported their right to marry the person that they loved.

Since history shows that a conservative is usually a person who supports and agrees with the beliefs of liberals 100 years previous, then it is likely that the conservative of 2100 (or before) will agree with the basic political positions of Ted Kennedy.  He was not a perfect man by any means. The death of a young woman drowning at Chapaquicket with Kennedy as a driver shows this. His failure to report this crash right away is indeed a mark against his character. But, just like the Roosevelts (Theodore and Franklin) he came from a wealthy family but served the little guy. He served the average worker in his support of labor. He supported a clearn environment, extenstion of health care for children with the SCHIP program.
