Friday Night Smackdown took place in Wichita, KS on March 5, 2010. Todd Grisham and Matt Striker provided commentary on this edition.

Before the first segment of the show, it was announced that the main event was Edge vs. Big Show.

We start the show with Edge. Last Friday, Edge took on and successfully defeated The Miz. Edge mentioned that WrestleMania is twenty-three days away. Edge is also concerned about his opponent for WrestleMania, Chris Jericho. Jericho said the same things over and over again since he won the World Heavyweight Championship, which at the end of Jericho's promos he got speared by Edge. Edge promised that Jericho will be speared again at WrestleMania.

The Big Show entered the ring after that and Edge called him "a depressing surprise". Edge guessed that Show is in the ring because his tag team partner got speared. Big Show said that he was here tonight because he will find out who they will wrestle at WrestleMania. Show also said that Edge was lucky when he beat The Miz last week and tonight his luck would run out. Edge responded by saying "what are you going to do? Eat me?". Show then told Edge that he ate crap like him for breakfast, which Edge turned it around to make it look like the joke was on Show. Edge then promised Show that he will be speared tonight, which led Show to charge Edge. Edge pulled the ropes from under Big Show and he was dumped over the top rope.

Teddy Long was in his office looking over the Shawn Michaels DVD. Drew McIntyre entered the office and asked Long for a favor and set the record straight. Long said per Vince McMahon that McIntyre's loss was removed from the record books and that he was still undefeated. Long said to McIntyre that Kane qualified for the Money in the Bank Ladder match. He announced that McIntyre got a match tonight against Matt Hardy. McIntyre said thanks and offered to shake Long's hand. Long walked away from the offer.

Match #1: Matt Hardy defeated WWE Intercontinental Champion Drew McIntyre in a non-title match to earn a spot in the Money in the Bank Ladder Match at WrestleMania XXVI.

McIntyre dominated the majority of the match in what might arguably be his best performance to date. McIntyre found ways to execute moves pretty well, especially the Northern Lights Suplex. However, in this business it is how you finisher and Matt Hardy reversed a pin attempt by McIntrye and earned a ticket to WrestleMania.

After the, McIntyre looked perplexed. He looked at the WrestleMania banner and completely snapped. He screamed at Matt Striker, and told him that he will be at WrestleMania. McIntyre kicked the ring steps, grabbed his title belt, and left the ring area.

Match #2: Shelton Benjamin defeated Dolph Ziggler.

In match that featured two of the best all-around athletes on the Smackdown brand, Benjamin was just one step better than Ziggler. Though Ziggler was able to grapple his way throughout the match, he made a big mistake when he failed to hit his finisher, the Zig Zag. Benjamin took advantage of Ziggler's lone error and hit Paydirt for the pinfall victory.

Match #3: Ezekiel Jackson defeated Jimmy Wang Yang.

Though Yang gave a valiant effort and tried to use quickness, Jackson clobbered him throughout the contest. Jackson ended the match quickly when he laid out Yang with The Book of Ezekiel.

Rey Mysterio was backstage with his daughter. Mysterio presented her with his own action figure. Tiffany, the former ECW General Manager, entered the segment and Mysterio thanked her for watching his daughter. Mysterio talked to his daughter and she gave him the sign of the cross.

Before the next match, The Straightedge Society (S.E.S.), which consist of CM Punk, Luke Gallows, and Serena, entered the ring and Punk cut a promo. Punk talked about how parents are not good role models and how kids have to look to guys like Rey Mysterio. Punk mentioned that kids all around the world love Mysterio, as they all wear his merchandise. He said that Mysterio is no "superhero" and called Mysterio "a neglectful parent". Punk called the fans around the arena cowards, just like Mysterio.

Punk stated that instead of Mysterio seeing face-to-face, he attacked Punk behind his pack which led him to losing his Money in the Bank qualifier. Gallows was upset about that for a week and Punk forgave him. Gallows wanted to make Mysterio pay for what he did and that he is fighting for "The Society".

Match #4: Rey Mysterio defeated Luke Gallows (w/CM Punk and Serena).

Luke Gallows did control the majority of the match with his power and got a little help during the contest thanks to CM Punk and Serena. However, it was the experienced and seasoned Mysterio that took advantage of his younger opponent by countering a powerbomb by Gallows to get the pinfall victory.

After the match, CM Punk tried to attack Mysterio, Instead, it was Mysterio who kicked Punk in the leg and ran off.

The cameras then went backstage to where The Big Show was getting ready for his upcoming match. Chris Jericho entered the room and said congratulations to Show for winning back the Unified Tag Team Championship. Jericho told Show that he wanted him to annihilate Edge. Show responded to those words by telling Jericho that he did not own him anything and that he was going to do this his way. Show told Jericho that he would do it for himself.

Match #5: John Morrison and R-Truth defeated Cryme Tyme (JTG and Shad Gaspard) and The Hart Dynasty (David Hart Smith and Tyson Kidd w/Natalya) to earn a WWE Unified Tag Team Championship match at WrestleMania.

The match showcased a little bit of each team's styles of wrestling, but in the end Morrison and R-Truth earned the opportunity. Morrison was able to send a couple of his opponents over the top rope with a crossbody. R-Truth ended the match when he hit The Lie Detector on Kidd to win by pinfall.

Michelle McCool and Layla were backstage with Vickie Guerrero. McCool thanked Guerrero for last week's title match, which McCool won back her Women's Championship. McCool and Layla acted the scene out when Vickie slapped Mickie James. They continued to suck up to Guerrero by offering her a "Simply Flawless" shirt. Beth Phoenix entered the segment and that led to McCool and Layla leaving the area.

Phoenix asked for a title shot for the reason for that was that she is the most dominant diva in the WWE. Guerrero corrected Phoenix and said that "she was the most dominant diva" and the match won't happen until she said it would happen. Phoenix told Guerrero not to cross her, but Guerrero said that Phoenix would not intimidate her. Guerrero told Phoenix to ask James about crossing her.

Match #6: Edge defeated WWE Unified Tag Team Champion The Big Show.

The Big Show controlled the match with his ability to brawl out of anything given to him by Edge. Sadly for Show he was not able to finish him off and Edge, known as "The Ultimate Opportunist" managed to spear The Big Show in the end of the match to secure the pinfall victory.

After the match, Chris Jericho tried to attack from behind. However, Edge counter Jericho's attack and speared him. Edge then said on the microphone that Jericho got speared and the show ended at that.
