Sheamus has recently been getting a gigantic push. Unsurprisingly, this coincided with Triple H revealing that he not only works out with Sheamus, but sees a lot of himself in the young talent. The question, however, must be asked. Does Sheamus deserve this push? Can he survive it without making a ton of enemies or being overexposed?
Since, Sheamus was taken off ECW in the middle of a feud with Shelton Benjamin, and pushed onto Raw where he killed several jobbers and ended the career of Jaime Noble. Now, at Survivor Series, he eliminated two men, including noted tough guy Finlay with just one kick.
Of course, a guy talented enough to be a three time World Champion, CM Punk, finds himself back on ECW, where he already spent a full year or feuding with a referee or a no-talent like R-Truth. Jack Swagger, a former ECW Champion, got to Raw, was almost put into a program with Randy Orton his first night, then went right back down to the mid-card where he is intermittently pushed. What did wrestlers like these two do wrong, other than not immediately befriend the right guy?
Sheamus is currently left looking like a heel Goldberg. He’s the beneficiary of the biggest initial push for a new guy in the WWE since… I think since Brock Lesnar. He wasn’t groomed for this initially- he was just another ECW young talent until he worked out with Triple H and was noticed. This sends an extremely poor message to the rest of the talent in the WWE- without support from above, hard work and talent won’t get you pushed. Unless this is a big build to a new debut (Danielson anyone?) beating him and leading into a feud where both men are elevated, I’m unsure how long this can go on before fans turn on it as artificial and talents back-stage lose complete morale at the hypocrisy here.

I love Sheamus, despite being a bit green in the ring (like an 07 Erick Stevens) I find him truly more interesting than half the roster just on his looks. His work on the mic isn't so shabby either, if they were pushing someone like R-Truth in his place THEN I'd have a problem.
With HHH in his corner or not, Sheamus is one of the most talented young athletes in WWE. He is a future WWE Champion in the making and doesnt need the help of anyone to achieve that.
GREEN in the ring? More like the color of mayonnaise.
I actually don't mind Sheamuses push as the new contendor for the title. The main reason why they picked Sheamus is because they don't have another rivalry to use for Cena other then Edge or Chris Jericho. It also proves that they are listening to the fans, as they could have just as easily made the number one contendor Triple H or Shawn Micheals or CM Punk.
This is just a way to develop a quick main eventer and Sheamus is the guy for the job.
