TNA Question 15: I’ve posted 20 questions on WWE, TNA and the Indies, inviting readers to answer. Now, I’ll be posting some reader response and commenting on what I think the answer is to each question. Feel free to continue to post responses on any question after the one I’ve already answered (I’ll be going in order). The awesome Andy Wheeler replied to all 20 questions over on Pulse Wrestling. No one knows more about the WWE mindset than Wheeler, so be sure to give him a read. Let’s get going with the next TNA question:
15. WWE has no blood and it hurts the product sometimes. TNA has plenty of blood and it hurts the product sometimes. Which is better?
“You only need to use blood when it gets over an angle or match type. You don't need to give it away in every match.” – Anthony Delebreau
“Really, I don't miss blood in WWE at all, and I find TNA overdoes it to the point where Abyss probably blades while shaving, so I'll go with the former.” – Brad Curran
“Less is more. Blood can be very effective if used at the right time, but if used too much, it becomes almost meaningless. But if you don't use it at all, It’s kind of lame, especially if you have No DQ matches all the time.” - G
“Blood doesn't automatically make a match better or worse. It’s about the context. Rhino bleeding in an Xpolsion match against Kiyoshi means nothing. Rhino bleeding inside the SSS at the 10 minute mark in a hard fought match against Abyss for the world title during his big return match at BFG MEANS more.” - Thomas
I'd say no blood because when someone gets busted open hardway or has a phantom blade job in a company where blood is banned and rarely seen, the blood means something and has a chance of adding something to the match/angle. In a company like TNA where guys are getting busted open every week (there were three blade jobs on Impact two weeks ago, and two were in a meaningless one minute brawl 20 minutes into the show) blood is virtually meaningless so guys are slicing themselves open for almost no reason. – Calvin
Absolutely everyone who answered said too much blood is absolutely meaningless. Most people felt that blood was good in very limited moderation, a point which I’ll not disagree with, so for the sake of having a column, let’s look at why there’s so much blading in TNA.
TNA wrestlers seem to bleed as much as anyone in a non-death match environment ever has. A large part of this problem is that because TNA gives away so many hardcore style matches, it has become almost a necessity. WWE fans complained when the previously bloody Hell in a Cell style matches lacked any blood at the recent PPV. TNA does so many violent matches that the blood is expected and they don’t want to open themselves up for criticism by not blading. Adding to the issue, the Motor City Machine Guns, a couple years back, refused to blade. Because of this, they were de-pushed and not considered serious about their work. If a guy in a hardcore match refuses to blade, he might be seen in the same manner. Finally, to go from constant blood to no blood is jarring and noticeable, so that guys will blade so their matches look important and memorable rather than be forgotten or remembered as the tame match that didn’t try as hard. TNA might be best off banning blood for a time, so that when it returns, in moderation, it means more, but they’ll have to get past these earlier issues to achieve that short term banning and make blood in wrestling mean something again.

wwe needs blading back big time, hell in a cell and the elimanation chamber are dumb when there is no blood.tna is looking for more mature viewers so they will blade often.years ago in nwa jim crokket promotions used blading so much it lost all meaning.
i am very disapponting about wwe pg rating wwe has familiar around adults than kids then why vince has decide such a thing even vince mcmahon also had more violent blood matches i hope he realize that and reinstate blood in wwe
