TNA Final Resolution 2009 Match 7: Desmond Wolfe vs. Kurt Angle

This is two of the top wrestlers in the world going 2 out of 3 falls.  The first fall is pin only, while the second is submission.  Third and final is in a steel cage.  This is TNA 3-stages of hell and it should easily top Orton vs. Triple H from earlier this year. Let's see.

Fall 1: Desmond Wolfe wins the first fall with a big lariat into a Tower of London.  He has severely weakened Kurt Angle's arm in a very good, very technical match-up.

Fall 2: Kurt Angle makes Desmond Wolfe tap to the heel hook version of the Ankle Lock, but his arm is wrecked.

Fall 3: This is the escape the cage fall.  Kurt Angle bloodied Wolfe, then locked in the ankle lock until Wolfe could barely crawl and climbed out of the ring (*** 1/2).

Very good match, with Wolfe's chain wrestling really shining.  The first two falls were especially good, as was Wolfe's selling.  All of his arm work was never paid off though, as even when Angle showed it, it never stopped anything he tried and didn't play in anywhere.  The last fall had a bit of good fighting, but was easily the weakest of the three, with Wolfe doing the slow crawl and with a hurt ankle trying to make it over the top.  Angle, for his part, rarely seemed in danger after the first part of the match.  They really turned in a very good mat wrestling performance here, with only the silliness of escape rules messing with the ending, final fall.
