On CM Punk in ROH

Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3 of Punk's heel turns in Ring of Honor.

We’ve now covered all of CM Punk’s major heel turns in Ring of Honor.  With the end of “The Summer of Punk”, CM was ready to go to the WWE and try to see if he could rise to the top of another company.  Of course, first he, had one last night, one last match in his hometown of Chicago against his best friend and rival, Colt Cabana, known to you WWE fans as Scotty Goldman.

In yesterday’s video, Punk spoke about how he saved ROH, he carried them when TNA pulled all their talent.  He said it to be heelish and claimed all the credit, but it’s pretty much true.  When TNA pulled everyone from ROH, CM Punk, Samoa Joe and Homicide stepped up and carried the company.  Punk trained the first class of ROH wrestling school students.  He had the epic tag team match 2/3 falls with the Briscoes at Death before Dishonor 2.  It was Punk who had the trilogy with Samoa Joe, their second match being the first match Meltzer rated five stars since Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels in the first Hell in a Cell.  That match brought a ton of attention to ROH and helped them grow.  Punk drew attention for the Raven angle discussed in the first post, which woke ECW faithful to ROH’s increasing creativity, and Punk, with his “Summer of Punk” that was the focal point of perhaps the best storyline in company history.  He even risked the WWE’s ire for ROH when, during a snowstorm, multiple talents couldn’t make a show, he created a great, memorable moment, showing up at “Unscripted 2” to team with Bryan Danielson.  As high as he rises in the WWE, Punk will always be the heart of Ring of Honor.
