Dragon Gate USA "Untouchable" Review

Dragon Gate USA is Untouchable.  Can their second Pay Per View match their first? Let's find out.

Dragon Kid defeats Masato Yoshino with a crucifix bomb, ***. These two really turned it up at the end of the match, but a near-fall every two seconds kept the crowd involved yet made this feel like pure sugar- energetic but not nourishing.

Mike Quackenbush and Jigsaw defeat Gran Akuma and Yamato when Quack hits a QD2 on Akuma. Yamato tries to choke Quack out post-match, but is saved by Hallowicked. ***.  This was a mess- fun moves, but nothing else- a total mess.

Naruki Doi defeats Bryan Danielson in a great, **** match. Doi attacked Danielson’s leg all match, while Danielson assaulted Doi’s arm in fun fashion. Ultimately, slowing Danielson down ended up being more effective that setting up the Cattle Mutilation as Danielson added yet another excellent match before he headed to WWE.

CIMA beat Brian Kendrick in a severely clipped match.  Giving no time to the ultra-charismatic CIMA and the newly released Kendrick, for whom the curiosity factor couldn't be higher, didn't make sense to me.

Davey Richards defeats Shingo via Kimura in a **** ¼ match. They went pure, 99 MPH overkill with stiff moves and head-drops here. If that’s your thing, hunt this down, you’ll like it more than me. The best part of this was that both men managed to sell without slowing the pace at all, regardless of what sick, sick offense they each busted out. Davey is a star.

Genki Horiguchi and Ryo Saito defeat the Young Bucks after a Mist by Horiguchi then a Double Cross by Saito for *** ½.

This wasn't as good top to bottom as the first Pay Per View, Enter the Dragon, but Doi vs. Danielson and Shingo vs. Davey Richards are both as good as anything else on that show, so this is absolutely worth seeing, especially for one of Danielson's final indy dates and the spectacle of Shingo and Davey trying to kill one another.  Get this on DVD or find the Pay Per View replay!

DirecTV didn't carry it. Again. Because they hate me. Or they dropped ROH before their PPV deal ran out. Whatever. I am wondering what a head dropping overkill fetishist would give Davey vs. Shingo when you were half a * away from the full monty.
