TNA Question 12; I’ve posted 20 questions on WWE, TNA and the Indies, inviting readers to answer. Now, I’ll be posting some reader response and commenting on what I think the answer is to each question. Feel free to continue to post responses on any question after the one I’ve already answered (I’ll be going in order). The awesome Andy Wheeler replied to all 20 questions over on Pulse Wrestling. No one knows more about the WWE mindset than Wheeler, so be sure to give him a read. Let’s get going with the twelfth TNA question:

12. With AJ Styles and Matt Morgan signed for five more years each, does that mean we shouldn't worry about them being buried since they can be built around or should be worried since they can’t leave?
“The first one... you can find a way out of a company if you REALLY want to, even though that would mean stuff that could hurt your reputation.” - Kewf
I think that the very top of the card likely could manage to get out of their contract, but the issue is how badly they’d be jobbed out before them and, if they were drawing big interest from WWE, if TNA wouldn’t rather just have them sit out. Surely either of the last two are causes for concern, no?
“AJ & Morgan are obviously getting megapushes right now, and AJ is TNA's baby, so I have no concern at the moment.” – G
AJ is TNA’s baby sure, and he’s the top babyface. The problem there is that TNA wants Morgan, Hernandez, and Lashley to be top faces as well. Kurt Angle and Samoa Joe at least are top heels, with Eric Young being pushed as a new one, so that’s quite the crowd at the top of the card when they want to get new guys over. Who will they choose to appease with top spots then? The guys who aren’t going anywhere guaranteed or the ones who could leave to the WWE if they aren’t feeling appreciated?
I think it all depends on who is the booker moving forward, if something minor happens to cause TNA to panic and shift the focus back on Angle, Foley, and crew, and if they get some new hire who once worked for WWE who they want to push straight to the main event even though he has less to offer than many of the guys they could push instead.” - Calvin
So while this is good news for Morgan and Styles financially and TNA as a company, this could easily come back to bite the performance and future earning potential of two of the top young wrestlers in the world. With Russo on top, as he’s always been a Styles fan, there’s less cause for worry, but a new regime could be trouble Morgan and AJ could be depushed by someone who wants a more promo-centric company, while AJ might be locked in a bad spot by a booker who only likes bigger talent. A lot can go wrong in five years and TNA’s consistency, as any wrestling company besides WWE, is always in question.
