They then show another fantastic video highlighting the trials and tribulations of Jeff Hardy and Edge, the two men competing for the WWE Championship tonight.
I’m expecting good things from this match and really hope it delivers.
SmackDown General Manager Vickie Guerrero comes out before the match and changes the match to a No Disqualification match. This should be good.
Surprisingly the Champion Hardy enters first, followed by Edge, the challenger, who is accompanied to the ring by Chavo Guerrero. Hardy is all decked out in black with Joker-like face paint. It’s quite the different look for him.
The match starts out slow, and they keep everything legal, ignoring the “no DQ” stipulation in the first few minutes. The match eventually slows down as Edge takes control and beats on Hardy. The match finally picks up when Hardy pulls out a ladder (his signature “weapon”) from under the ring. Hardy climbs the ladder and jumps off and onto Chavo Guerrero and through one of the three ringside announce tables. It was a crazy move as the ladder fell over as Jeff jumped off the top. Jeff and Edge end up back in the ring and you can feel the energy pick up in the match. The two men start trading big moves and near-falls as the crowd is “popping” for every pin cover. Hardy hits his signature “Swanton Bomb” but Vickie Guerrero interrupts the referee’s count. Jeff’s brother Matt Hardy runs in the ring and gives Jeff a chair. I think I see where this is going. And sure enough, Matt grabs a chair as well and nails his little brother in the head with it. Edge makes the academic cover and wins the WWE Championship for the fourth time.
Matt leaves ringside in silence as Edge and Vickie celebrate and the announcers go silent to “sell” the tragic events of Matt turning on his little brother Jeff.
Jeff leaves ringside with the help of officials.

Didn't we already see an uninspired Matt vs Jeff feud back when they broke up the Hardy Boyz tag-team years ago? Yecch.

I agree that the last Hardy-Hardy rivalry was quite awful, but I think this one will work a lot better for a variety of reasons. Plus if the rumors of Christian Cage returning to either work with or against Edge it could really make for an interesting scenario.
