Let’s give TNA credit for swerving everyone watching TNA Slammiversary last night. Nobody saw the finish coming for the TNA World Title King of The Mountain Match.
A Samoan Swerve - Joe Goes Heel
Samoa Joe handed over the TNA world title belt to Kurt Angle at the top of the ladder as they both were going for the victory. Angle hangs the belt on the hook and becomes the new TNA World Champion. That’s right; Joe helped Angle to win the TNA world title.
The PPV ends as we see the Main Event Mafia come out and celebrate with Samoa Joe and Kurt Angle. We are led to believe that Samoa Joe has joined the Main Event Mafia.
So, after all of this Nation of Violence stuff, we are supposed to believe that Samoa Joe was really working with Kurt Angle all along?
I don’t buy it.
In mid-December 2008, Joe was beaten bad and suffered an injured arm at the evil hands of the Main Event Mafia. Then at the end of January 2009, Samoa Joe returns with his new Nation of Violence persona. His whole mission is to get revenge and destroy the Main Event Mafia.
For the last 5 months, Joe has beaten and bloodied just about every member of the Main Event Mafia. Huge storylines were developed out of Joe’s vendetta. Now, we are supposed to believe that it was all a work? We are supposed to believe it was all an elaborate plan?
Once again, I don’t buy it.
This swerve was unexpected and shocking to see but it makes no sense. There’s no logic behind it. A lot of people were left saying “huh” … For the first time in a while I felt like I was watching WWE and not TNA. This felt like a WWE swerve.
There are still 3 days until TNA Impact. Actually, less than 48 hours and we will find out the spoilers for Impact. I am curious to see how they are going to explain this swerve. TNA, “you gots some splainin to do”. And yes, I was doing my best Ricky Ricardo impression right there.
From what I have read on the forums and twitter, wrestling fans either loved the swerve or hated it. As of right now, I’m with the latter on this one…

Comments
The Nation of Violence storyline actually began in March around the time Angle lost his belt. I think the storyline is brilliant as it instantly puts the power back in the MEM and knocks Foley, Jarret and even Sting down a level and puts the heel MEM back on top.
