The King, ECW rebrand, Foley, more

  • Former WWE Diva and Playboy model Latasha Marzolla is now 2-0 in her MMA career. Marzolla defeated Kate McGray and reportedly looked very good while doing so.
  • The Iron Sheik is said to be headed to Hollywood to start filming on a movie. Cannot wait for that.
  • Jerry "The Kink, er King" Lawler recently turned 60, so in keeping with tradition his latest girlfriend should have just turned 18. Well, in keeping with Memphis tradition it would be more old enough to bleed old enough to breed but we probably should not go that way.
  • Jesse Ventura has been all over TV and radio the last week shilling for his new show "Conspiracy Theories" which debuts on Wednesday on TruTv at 9:00 P.M. eastern.
  • Southpeak Interactive officially announced plans for a TNA Impact-Cross the Line game for PSP and Nintendo DS.
  • There is a hot rumor that the WWE will re-brand ECW in light of a recent TV contract renewal. There is talk that more of the names in FCW will be part of the new show. I will have more details as they are available.
  • Big Show had arthroscopic surgery on his knee and worked a house show the next night and said that he felt great.
  • TNA is set to go head-to-head with RAW on Monday. TNA lacks the production strength that the WWE has and also the star power even with Hulk Hogan on board. Most of the guys in TNA cannot talk, scripted or not, they cannot talk. Any promotion that uses Vince Russo is destined to fail it is only a matter of when not if. Getting rid of Russo would be a Godsend to this promotion, if there is any right in the world, Russo will go back to selling records.
  • Steve Williams is undergoing chemo in order to shrink the cancer that has attacked him stoma. According to the most recent PET scan he had the treatment is working. Wrestlers Rescue is still raising money to purchase Dr. Death a voice box. Some very unique items are available by visiting www.wrestlersrescue.org
  • Jim Ross said he does not believe Steve Austin will join TNA but he thinks it might be possible for Ric Flair to drop in once Hulk Hogan gets established.
  • Jeff Hardy is due in court tomorrow for his probable cause hearing on the assorted drug charges he is facing. The hearing was postponed last month while waiting on results from a court ordered drug test. If it is found that there was probable cause the charges will then go to the Grand Jury to indict or not. If they choose to indict Hardy he would then appear in Superior Court for trial unless he enters into a plea bargain during this process.
  • OVW, my alma mater, has a new show available on-line at www.ovwrestling.com. Ohio Valley Wrestling offers some of the best independent wrestling around so be sure to check them out.
  • Mick Foley is putting the finishing touches on another book to be called "Countdown to Lockdown" that is set to be published in 2010. Since I used to travel with "Hustler" Rip Rogers, who was mentioned in one of Foley's previous books, I am often asked if the story about Rip and the Nasty Boys is true. The story is the Nasty Boys were ribbing Rip and threatening to "rape" him. Rip, naked, turned his backside to them and said "come on love" and proceeded to chase them down the hallway, butt first. So yes, it is true as well as the story about Rip fishing out Barry Windham's keys from a toilet filled with the whiskey drips. Barry forked over $75 for Rip to help with that. Rip is one of a kind.
  • Upcoming are interviews with Baby Doll Nickla Roberts and Pat Rose as well as more road stories and observations.
  • As always I am Jerry Wiseman...and then the bell rings.
