• More on the Dawn Marie scandal, Wrestler’s Rescue was not a registered charity according to attorneys for the former Diva. The money that was raised and donated has not and cannot be accounted for and it is alleged that Marie used the funds for her own personal endeavors including traveling to autograph signings and conventions where she was able to make even more money for herself. Reaction to this story has been mixed with many believing that Dawn Marie was not capable of this and pulling out the innocent until proven guilty card. Well, here is my take on that, if you are being investigated by the FBI for fraud then there is enough evidence to make a case otherwise the FBI would not be wasting time. Many are saddened by the reports and are hopeful that they are untrue but are also well aware that things like this happen in the business and money is the great motivator and temptress.
• I have about 100 shoot DVDs and I have watched all of none of them. I love to hear what the vets have to say and the stories they have to tell but it is a lot different to spend hours of your life watching a DVD than it is to travel with them and hear the same stories. I will still buy them but my attention span to watch them is not where it needs to be. One that cannot be missed though is the Billy Jack Haynes shoot, that poor guy has some issues.
• My buddy Jerry Wilson, who runs Hoosier Pro Wrestling, is celebrating their 10th anniversary with new t-shirts and a DVD featuring the best of the group including never before seen footage. You can get the t-shirt for $25 and the DVD is $14 which includes shipping and you can get them both by sending an email to HPW. If you are in the Columbus, Indiana area you should really check out HPW, it is the best wrestling since Bruiser.
• My OVW friend Brock Lesnar and wife Rena are celebrating the birth of their second child, a boy. Congrats to the baddest man walking the planet, next to me of course.
• Lance Storm turned down an offer from TNA to be part of the ECW gimmick and that is not a bad thing. The promo Dixie cut with Dreamer, Raven Stevie Richards, Rhino and Mick Foley last week was awful. Dreamer was near tears, it was pathetic and pretty much ruined any interest I had in the angle. Raven looks horrible, sorry to say that but man, the years have not been kind to him. Raven is your brain on drugs kiddies.
• Friend of the show Steve Gerweck is reporting that Jeff Hardy suffered an injury at a TNA house show. The injury was to his hand and not serious so Hardy is not expected to miss any time.
• The National Wrestling Alliance will be at the Ohio State Fair on August 1 with a 3:00 bell time. Abyss and Scott Steiner will be part of the parade and many of the stars on the show will be signing autographs from Thursday until the day of the show. Tickets are still available and this is one show you do not want to miss. I will be there taking pictures so make sure you are there and say something smart assed so I know it is you.
• The TNA action figures are available and should be at a store near you. There are a couple that I want to add to my collection so make sure you pick up a couple of them and help out TNA.
• Steve Austin will be in another episode of the TV show “Chuck.” Austin transcends TV very well but his assent into movies is a disaster.
• The recent ROH show at Chicago Ridge drew about 750 which is the norm for the group these days. ROH should be drawing 1000 easy and they are again running a big sale at www.rohwrestling.com giving 45% off everything. Maybe they should stop using Colt Cabana, people might come out more since they want to see wrestling and not a wrestling clown.
• According to Tommy Dreamer, the promoter of a show he and a number of other named talent worked this past weekend in Scranton, Pennsylvania skipped out on the boys without paying them. The promoter has been named as Keith Stoddard and police are reportedly investigating the circumstances involved. Raven, Shane Douglas, Larry Zbyszko and David Sammartino, who could really use the money, were also on the show.
• More from the ROH show in Chicago, Mike Sydal was reportedly knocked unconscious during a match and was taken to the hospital. Early reports are that he suffered a concussion and is expected to be fine.
• Ricky Steamboat is home from the hospital and Scott Hall should have been released by now as well.
• Do not forget to check me out at WrestleOhio, as the National Pro Wrestling Memorabilia Examiner and contact me for DVDs of classic Dick the Bruiser WWA, Angelo Poffo ICW and a variety of other great matches and also get your copy of “Confessions of a Big Time Wrestler” by Dr. Jerry Graham Jr. and for a limited time get your copy for $15 shipping included as well as two free 4x6 photos.
• Lou Marconi continues his bid to get an NWA Title shot and calls out Adam Pearce and Bryan Danielson in this shoot video below.
• As always I am Jerry Wiseman and then the bell rings.
