The One Lowell World Cup soccer tournament kicks off on August 1st and continues on August 7th with semi-finals and finals on August 8th at Cawley Stadium in Lowell, Massachusetts. Currently 20 countries are registered and more are expected, with teams comprised of immigrants and descendents of immigrants from five continents. The quality of the soccer has been described as "amazing."
Participating nations currently include England, Ireland, Germany, Northern Ireland/Scotland, Romania, Brazil, Colombia, Guatelmala, Honduras, Mexico, USA, Canada, Jamaica, Vietnam, Cambodia, Ghana, Somalia, Kenya, Djibouti, and Togo.
There is a One Lowell World Cup draw party on Sunday, July 18th at 6PM at Garcia Brogan’s Cantina, Pub, and Restaurant in Lowell.

One Lowell World Cup 2009 Champion Brazil
The goal of the tournament is to bring together immigrants from diverse communities and native-born Americans to foster better relations among people from different backgrounds. The tournament raises money for citizenship classes, school programs and assisting newcomers as they integrate into American life.
Tickets for the One Lowell World Cup are $5 per day. Matches start at 8:00 am each day, and the last game ends around 7:00pm. Limited parking will be available for $2 per vehicle.

ONE Lowell is a non-profit organization dedicated to increasing the integration and self sufficiency of Lowell's many immigrant newcomers. Proceeds from the ONE Lowell World Cup will go to help promote academic success among immigrant and refugee youth, provide citizenship services and leadership development, and promote self-sufficiency, justice and equality among all residents in the region.
