MLS played on through the final World Cup games, a decision that will be carefully reviewed in light of the spike in U.S. interest in the tournament. ESPN and Fox now can surely imagine the grip World Cup would hold on the nation should the USA progress to the Quarterfinals or even, dare-to-speak, the final two games.
There was one noteworthy upset in MLS Week 15, one that nobody predicted. The steadily sinking Revolution cleaned up their act and neatly beat LA Galaxy 2-0 at Gillette Stadium. Granted, Landon Donovan was throwing out the first pitch at Dodger Stadium and defender AJ DeLaGarza was suspended, but the Revolution served up their best available starting XI and played with attacking flair to win the game fair and square.
1. LA Galaxy: (-) The Galaxy clearly weren't prepared for a new look Revolution, who unexpectedly positioned defenders in defense, midfielders in the middle, strikers up top, and beat them 2-0. This week the Galaxy will collect three points from DC United.
2. Real Salt Lake: (-) Real Salt Lake with one game less than the Galaxy are only six points behind, but with 28 goals have surpassed them by three. Last week RSL shut out Chicago 1-0 and this week visit FC Dallas.
3. Columbus Crew: (-) The Crew fought the Dynamo to a scoreless draw and this week face another challenge when Red Bulls New York come visit. Red Bull recently signed Thierry Henry and will look to ride the wave of that momentum.
4. New York Red Bulls: (-) The Red Bulls drew an unimpressive scoreless drew with DC United, but will look challenge the Crew this week.
5. San Jose Earthquakes: (+1) The Quakes beat the Union 2-1 with goals from Arturo Alvarez and Chris Wondolowski and this week have a bye from regular season action to face Tottenham Hotspurs in a friendly.
6. Toronto FC: (+1) Toronto continued their rise with a 1-0 shut-out of the Rapids but will be challenged this week by the Union, who tend to win at home in their new stadium.
7. Colorado Rapids: (-2) The Rapids fell 1-0 to surging Toronto, but will likely collect three points from the Wizards this week.
8. Houston Dynamo: (+1) The Dynamo fought the resilient Crew to a scoreless draw and this week break for SuperLiga, where they are favored.
9. Chicago Fire: (-1) The Fire lost to RSL and this week break for SuperLiga.
10. FC Dallas: (-) FC Dallas drew Seattle 1-1, but this week face a tougher opponent when Real Salt Lake visit.
11. Seattle Sounders: (-) Sounders tied Dallas 1-1 and should improve vs. DC United.
12. Kansas City Wizards: (-) The Wizards lost 2-0 to Chivas USA, but rest on their dubious laurels until they visit the Rapids this week.
13. Chivas USA: (+1) Chivas beat the Wizards 2-0 and this week break for SuperLiga.
14. New England Revolution: (+1) The Revolution beat the Galaxy 2-0 and this week break for SuperLiga.
15. Philadelphia Union: (-2) The Union lost 2-1 to San Jose, but could pull off a draw when Toronto FC visit this week.
16. DC United: (-) DC United fought New York to a scoreless draw but this week face Seattle.

Okay you missed a midweek match! BUT it was a significant one! I would hardly call KC's beating Columbus in Columbus "resting on their laurels"....however DUBIOUS they may be! Just remember the difference between the best (LA Galaxy) and worst (several to choose from) is very little after the top 4 or 5 players- as New England and Kansas City proved recently....
FC Dallas at only 10th? That's too low.
CALCIOCALCIO,
These rankings are late this week, usually this posts by Tuesday, so I didn't factor in mid-week games. But you're right, that was a significant win for the Wizards.
Ken,
Dallas is on the bubble and the luck of the shuffle seems to go against them in rankings. They could be better than they look here. FCD have a good chance to prove themselves at home against RSL this weekend.

I believe they did so, L.E. I believe they did. 8-)
