MLS Power Rankings: Week 11

mls power rankings

 1. Chivas USA: After watching the Fire match, have the feeling this team could easily switch over to rugby, appearances on court TV. This is the best of MLS? Paulo Nagamura is very good, will go elsewhere.

2. Chicago Fire: More like it.

3. Kansas City Wizards: Second in the East, 16 goals, and Adam Cristman hasn’t even taken the field yet. Here for the long run.

4. Toronto FC: If they tweaked the defensive roster, this team could potentially make the MLS Cup finals.

5. DC United: This is a very good team, working hard, but needs to work harder without Ben Olsen. It’s amazing what one player can bring to a team.

6. Seattle Sounders: Tough times, not a prognosis, but a real test.

7. Houston Dynamo: Here they are again, but not excited.

8. Colorado Rapids: Ambitious, fighting, truly the wild card this year.

9. New England Revolution: Here because of how one player pulled a whole team together, didn’t look possible a week ago. Still need another striker to take the heat off. Next, another three points over the hapless Red Bulls.

10. Los Angeles Galaxy: Bruce Arena biding his time, no mistakes, no rush here, MLS tired of looking like a jackass. Heard a key player is returning.

11. Columbus Crew: Still think they’ll pull it together, but maybe with a new coach.

12. Real Salt Lake: This team needs to do their beautiful stadium justice and snap out of it.

13. FC Dallas: Beat the Fire? Go Dallas!

14. New York Red Bulls: The locusts weren’t available, so the powers–that-be sent the Red Bulls.

15. San Jose Earthquakes: The case for relegation starts here.

"Houston Dynamo: Here they are again, but not excited."

Who isn't excited? The Dynamo? You? What more must they do to show "excitement"? They are 5-0-2 in their last 7 matches. Not even Chivas can boast such marks (3-2-2).

    Okay Jeremy,
Yes, they're improving, but playing teams like SJ, Columbus, Dallas, NYRB, and an injury-ridden Revolution. And that includes a loss to SJ and a tie with NY. I've seen your blog on houston.theoffside(dot)com and know you follow them pretty closely. How are they going to line up against the Fire this weekend?

This weekend? Hopefully national duty doesn't wreck the momentum. We'll see.
