New Brazilian signing Roberto "Betu" Linck, 22, debuted for the New England Revolution coming on for Khano Smith in the 80th minute in the team's 1-0 victory over last-place DC United on August 8. Betu, a forward, has an unusual background for an MLS player having trained through the youth system of Brazil's Gremio Football Porto Alegranse which schooled Ronaldinho, and then playing college soccer in California, professional indoor soccer for the Chicago Storm, and six months this spring with CSM Ramnicu Valcea in Bulgaria. Last night, DC United threw everything forward in the final minutes trying to equalize Pat Phelan's 42nd minute goal and Betu didn't see much of the ball, but he was happy to be on the field.

"It was a good time," said Betu, "but it's always tough coming from the bench into a game. We were very lucky not to have a goal and come out with this win, but I thought it was a pretty even match and a very physical game."

New Serbian forward Ilija Stolica also debuted for the Revolution without even a practice before stepping on the field. "I haven’t got to practice with him yet since the tryouts," said Betu, "but I talked to him when we sat on the bench together. if we play the way we’re playing and get to the playoffs it’s going to be a great time. Playoff are very exciting, more emotional."
