Edmonton Eskimos Kamau Peterson and Patrick Kabongo are doing their part on Earth Day and they are visiting two schools to host the Edmonton Eskimo GreenZone Sustainability Blitz, a program that encourages elementary students to do their part to help preserve the planet.
Edmonton Eskimos set to 'blitz' elementary schools on Earth Day
Kamau and Patrick will be visiting Holy Cross School (9 am - 10 am local time) and Bishop Savaryn School (1 pm – 2 pm local time) on Wednesday. They will lead a high-energy pep-rally full of great demonstrations and useful strategies to reduce water and energy use. The large group demonstrations will be followed by in-depth workshops on water conservation for a selected class.
The GreenZone Sustainability Blitz Speaker Series is an innovative program where players teach students about the pillars of sustainability through interactive activities and encourage them to tackle the issues by taking action in their schools, homes and communities.
Wednesday’s appearances are two of 25 schools across Edmonton the program will visit.
The Edmonton GreenZone Sustainability Blitz is proudly presented by Alberta Environment (One Simple Act Program) and the City of Edmonton (CO2RE Program) in Partnership with the Edmonton Eskimos and the CFLPA. For more information on the GreenZone program visit www.greenzonechallenge.com.
