Two weeks ago, the folks from the Extreme Makeover Home Edition surprised the girls at Girls Hope with a new home and last week Cristo Rey Jesuit High School announced it will give full scholarships to the kids who are part of the Baltimore's Boys Hope Girls Hope organization.
Cristo Rey Jesuit High School is joining with Boys Hope Girls Hope and ABC’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” to provide a college preparatory education for the young men and women of Baltimore’s Boys Hope Girls Hope. The scholarships will cover 100 percent of the cost of a Cristo Rey Jesuit education for four years, including tuition and books, as well as application, registration and SAT course prep fees. Going forward, Cristo Rey Jesuit has committed to providing scholarships to Boys Hope Girls Hope scholars who are poised to make a difference in our community.
“We are pleased to partner with Boys Hope Girls Hope, founded by Jesuit Fr. Paul Sheridan, SJ in 1977,” said Rev. John W. Swope, SJ, president of Cristo Rey Jesuit. “The programs strong ties to the Jesuits extend to Cristo Rey Jesuit High School, a partner with Boys Hope Girls Hope since our school was established in 2007. We are delighted that two of our current students are Boys Hope Girls Hope scholars. All of our students benefit from our rigorous college preparatory program complemented by a unique Corporate Internship Program that is the only one of its kind in the Baltimore area.”
The Extreme Makeover team has built a home for the girls in Northeast Baltimore on land purchased by Boys Hope Girls Hope several years ago. The finished girls’ home, which is located near the boys’ residence, will be revealed on ABC in September 2010.
