Owings Mills intersection to get $2M improvement
Ownings Mills, MD -

The Maryland State Highway Administration is beginning a $2 million project to improve traffic operations and safety at the intersection of Owings Mills Boulevard, Dolfield Road and Dolfield Road South. Weather permitting, the project, which begins in mid-September, is slated for completion in spring 2008.

The project includes roadway widening for right-turn lanes eastbound and westbound on Owings Mills Boulevard as well as widening the west side of Dolfield Road and Dolfield Road South at the intersection.

The project also calls for grading and drainage improvements; construction of stormwater management ponds in the southwest corner of the intersection; and installation of new lighting, traffic signs and pavement markings.

SHA encourages travelers to plan ahead for extra travel time around the work zone.

“It’s a tremendously congested area, and the work will improve both congestion and safety there,” SHA spokesman Chuck Gischlar said Tuesday. “We are asking motorists to slow down in the work zone and think orange which is [indicative] of the construction mind set.”

For more information about the construction process or traffic operations during the project, contact SHA’s District 4 Office by phone at 410-321-2800, toll free at 800-962-3077, or by e-mail at SHADistrict4@sha.state.md.us.
