City Hall: Fatal Bayview shooting under investigation
SAN FRANCISCO -
The San Francisco Medical Examiner’s Office on Thursday has identified the victim of a fatal Wednesday night shooting as Darski Alexander. Alexander, 35, of San Francisco, was found at Innes Avenue and Mendell Street, in San Francisco’s Bayview district, a police dispatcher said. The shooting was reported at 6:45 p.m. and Alexander was pronounced dead at San Francisco General Hospital at 7:21 p.m., according to the Medical Examiner’s Office. Police are investigating the incident. COMMUNITYAssemblywoman may push ban on products with lead Assemblywoman Fiona Ma, D-San Francisco, speaking in front of the Children’s Council of San Francisco on Thursday, said that if the federal Consumer Product Safety Commission does not take steps to ban lead in all children’s products, she will introduce a California ban of toys and other products containing lead in January. “Children who are exposed to lead at any level are in harms way,” Ma said. “We can not let this become another issue where the Bush administration is asleep at the wheel.” The stern talk comes two days after toy giant Mattel announced a massive recall of two groups of toys may contain excessive amounts of lead. Ma has already sponsored a “toxic toy” bill in the state Legislature that would ban phthalates, a known carcinogen.
