The Board of Supervisors approved in a 7-3 vote legislation allowing get-out-the-vote workers easier access to the 30,000 mostly low-income residents living in the estimated 500 single-room occupancy facilities. Introduced by Supervisor Ross Mirkarimi, the legislation allows get-out-the-vote workers to gain access into the single-room occupancy facilities with permission from a resident or the guest of a resident. These residents are considered among those least likely to vote. Public meeting in Oakland on transbay cable A plan to submerge an electrical line beneath the floor of the Bay — in order to bring up to 400 megawatts of energy from Pittsburgh to San Francisco — will be voted on today by the San Francisco Bay Conservation and Development Commission.
