Loudoun County to get $5 million for Battlefield Parkway project
Loudoun County -

The first batch of regional taxes and fees for Northern Virginia projects includes $5 million for Battlefield Parkway that could help smooth traffic in Loudoun County.

When Loudoun County Chairman Scott York holds his second public hearing on the $300 million transportation funding package tonight, he can now point to a local project that will be funded by the levies.

Residents have been adamant that the county try to position itself for as many projects as possible.

County Administrator Kirby Bowers said the staff began reviewing the proposals Wednesday “to make absolutely sure we’re getting the right dollars on the right projects.”

The Northern Virginia Transportation Authority has drawn up an initial list of projects that would cost $102 million.

“Now matter how they cut it, we’re going to get Loudoun’s fair share of the regional pot,” Bowers said.

Public hearings will continue in Loudoun County and at George Mason University’s Prince William campus tonight.
