Lockheed awarded $40 million Army contract
Bethesda -

Bethesda-based Lockheed Martin on Tuesday announced it has been awarded a $40 million contract from the U.S. Army to install low-frequency radar systems into unmanned Predator drones.

Work on the contract is expected to take place at Lockheed facilities in Arizona over the course of a 32-month period. The new radar is expected to provide images to ground troops in all weather and lighting conditions and allow information to be downloaded to ground stations. Lockheed also expects to upgrade ground equipment to receive information from the drones.
