A plant sale to benefit the historic Whipps Cemetery Gardens will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 19 and 20 at 3909 Hawthorn Road in Dunloggin.

Master gardener Tom Gardner will speak on shade gardening at 10 a.m. May 19.

The one-acre cemetery on St. John’s Lane in Howard County dates back to 1844. It was turned into a public garden in 1987 and is maintained by nonprofit Friends of the Whipps Cemetery and Memorial Gardens.

The gardens open to the public daily.
