Union rally stops traffic in Woodley Park
WASHINGTON -

Hotel workers and organized labor officials marched on the Marriott Park Hotel in Woodley Park Thursday evening to demand affordable housing, job security and better pensions.

According to a witness, about 500, police-escorted marchers stopped traffic on Connecticut Avenue during Thursday’s rush hour on the way to Wardman Park to rally with UNITE HERE International President Bruce Raynor and Local 25 Executive Secretary-Treasurer John Boardman.

Local 25, the Washington chapter of UNITE HERE — a union primarily representing poor black and Hispanic workers — is in negotiations with the hotel over a collective bargaining agreement that expires late this summer.
