Three Baltimore companies receive funding from Johnson & Johnson
BALTIMORE -
The Maryland Technology Development Corporation announced that three early-stage health care companies — Biomedica Management Corp., Comprehensive Cancer Cells Diagnostics LLC and WellDoc Communications Inc. — are the first recipients of funding from TEDCO’s joint investment program with Johnson & Johnson’s Corporate Office of Science & Technology. The three firms received $75,000 each. The investment program is designed to give COSAT insight into emerging technologies being developed in the private sector. Maryland’s health care technology companies receive input and funding to build sustainable organizations that could garner interest from Johnson & Johnson’s venture capital group or its operating companies to license the product and technology. Biomedica is researching inflammation, coagulation and tissue regeneration with potential commercial applications; CCC Diagnostics is developing technology to aid physicians in developing personalized cancer treatment; and WellDoc is working to optimize diabetes management by use a virtual coach and real-time personalized diabetes management. |
