“Planet of the Vampires” is one of the three movies that will launch the Victoria Theatre's Genre cinema — science fiction, fantasy, horror, exploitation — receives the spotlight, grind-house style, during “A Month of Sleazy Sundays,” a Dead Channels event.
Promoters describe it as a “festival of fantastic film, a celebration of the art of film — with all the boring parts cut out” or “12 mind-bending explosions of raw unadulterated cinema excess.” Presented over four consecutive Sundays in April, programs feature double and triple bills and giveaways. First up: “War of the Robots,” “Planet of the Vampires” and “Starcrash,” beginning at 7 p.m. Sunday — April Fool’s Day, appropriately enough — at the Victoria Theatre, 2961 16th St., San Francisco. Tickets are $8 for one film, $15 for two and $20 for all three. Visit deadchannels.com or victoriatheatre.org. |
