Teen seriously wounded in shooting
Menlo Park, Calif. -
A 17-year-old is in serious condition following a shooting on the 600 block of Laurel Avenue Monday. Police continue to hunt for three suspects described only as Latino males who were seen in a 1980s or 1990s Toyota Corolla Monday afternoon. At 2:22 p.m., the victim was walking with a 17-year-old friend near the Willow Oaks Elementary School when one of the suspects allegedly shot him in the leg and fled the scene, according to Menlo Park Police Department spokeswoman Nicole Acker. Willow Oaks, a K-8 school in the Ravenswood district, was briefly under lockdown while police cleared the scene, but no students were involved in the shooting, Acker said. The victim was taken to a local hospital, where he was in serious enough condition that police could not interview him as of Tuesday afternoon, according to Acker. Police are interviewing witnesses to determine any motive for the shooting. Anyone with information about the incident may call the Menlo Park Police Department at (650) 330-6317. |
