READERS CHOICE

Laurie Forster

Occupation: The Wine Coach “I blend my training as a professional sommelier with my experience as a life coach to create unique corporate events, wine seminars and tastings. Having my own business requires a ton of work, usually 7 days a week, but I always try to squeeze in some fun over the weekend.”

1. Taste Test

On Friday, I’ll grab my friend Valerie and head over to The Wine Market at 921 E. Fort Avenue for a Free tasting of Argentinean and Chilean wines. South America is a great place to look for delicious value priced wines. If we get motivated I might just buy a bottle of wine and then move over to the dining room for dinner. They always have an interesting cheese plate with three artisan cheeses to start, lots of great entrees. If you are looking for comfort don’t miss their mac and cheese.

2. Blues Under the Stars

If we still have energy we’ll grab lawn chairs and head over to Little Italy for the outdoor film series at the intersection of High and Stiles Street. This week’s movie is one of my favorites, has a great soundtrack and is a true classic — The Blues Brothers. Don’t miss this opportunity to see it under the stars … Jake and Elwood would be so disappointed!

3. Custom Cuisine

Saturday is date night so I plan to enjoy an early dinner with my husband Michael at Dogwood’s at 911 West 36th Street. Bridget and Galen Sampson have created a wonderful restaurant the focuses on seasonal, local and organic cuisine. We love trying new things so we will probably choose the “Menu of the Minute” option where Galen and his team of chefs create a five course tasting menu for us that is truly unique.

4. Dancing Queen

“After dinner we plan to work off these calories by dancing them off at a free Summer Live! Concert at Harborplace. The Players are the main act combining rock, ska and reggae to create a unique upbeat sound that will inspire everyone to get up and dance.

5. Ohmmm

“Sunday be a day to recover from all this fun. I will start with a yoga class at 10 a.m. at The Healing Path located at 37 E. Cross Street. The yoga class will definitely help me de-stress and center. Afterwards I am going to splurge and get a deep tissue massage.
