HALF MOON BAY -

The lawsuit-beleaguered city of Half Moon Bay has found help to pay its substantial legal fees.

The Association of Bay Area Governments’ insurance coverage will cover $5 million in legal costs the city has incurred during litigation related to the Beachwood property, as well as anticipated fees.

The money will not cover the $18 million the city will have to pay if Assembly Bill 1991 fails, Half Moon Bay Mayor Bonnie McClung said.

AB 1991, a special bill that will allow development on the wetlands, will be heard in the state Senate Local Government Committee on Wednesday.
