Park

Cole Valley, Haight, Castro, Twin Peaks, Panhandle

Park robbery: A man was walking through Golden Gate Park near “Hippie Hill” at 6:40 p.m. April 30 when he said someone called him over. The man approached the suspect and was asked if he was in a gang.

He was wearing a red 49ers jersey with “80 Rice” on it. The suspect punched the man in the face, went through his pockets and took $80. The victim ran off and called police, who found the suspect still hanging out on Hippie Hill.

Central

Financial District, Nob Hill, Chinatown, North Beach, Russian Hill, Telegraph Hill

Re-cycled: Officers came upon a man attempting to sell a new bicycle on the street at Jefferson and Taylor streets at 6 p.m. May 2. Further investigation indicated that the bicycle was stolen from a rental shop on Jefferson Street. An arrest search also revealed a prohibited knife on the suspect.

Tenderloin

Tenderloin, bordered by Geary, Market and Larkin streets

Caught jaywalking: Officers observed a known parolee cross Jones and Ellis streets against a red light on April 28. When the officers detained the man, a computer check revealed he had a no-bail warrant for a parole violation.

Richmond

Richmond, most of Golden Gate Park

Graffiti bust: A Muni anti-graffiti supervisor who was riding on a 38-Geary bus at 1:14 p.m. April 28 observed a youth writing graffiti on the interior of the bus and on the exterior of the bus after the youth got off at 33rd Avenue and Geary Boulevard.

The supervisor called the police and followed the suspect and his companion until police arrived. Two youths were hiding in a doorway on the 500 block of 33rd Avenue.

Both boys were detained and brought to Richmond Station. One 16-year-old was charged with vandalism, and both boys were released to their parents.
