Baltimore Police Blotter
BALTIMORE -
Cummings sees violence up-close in Baltimore U.S. Rep. Elijah Cummings got a close-up glimpse of violent crime Saturday as he cradled a dying man who had been stabbed. Carlos Santay-Carillo was getting gas at a station on Baltimore National Pike to take his pregnant wife, Claudia, to the hospital to give birth, when he was stabbed five times. “It was just a horrifying event,” Cummings said. “He was really gasping for air.” Cummings pointed to the spot where he cradled the man. Family members waited to tell the mother her husband had died until after she’d given birth to Carlos Jr. As he held the victim, a recent immigrant from Guatemala, Cummings tried to calm him down, quickly dialing a friend who speaks Spanish. “I kept saying over and over again, ‘Stay down, it’s going to be all right,” Cummings said. – WJZ-13 Gasoline stolen from Harford car dealership Harford authorities are investigating the theft of more than $700 worth of gasoline from an Abingdon car dealership.
