It was the last chance for Maryland players to leave an impression on Ralph Friedgen, and running back Da’Rel Scott didn’t waste the opportunity.

Scott ran for 113 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries in the Red-White game, the team’s final inter-squad scrimmage, as the White team defeated the Red team, 27-3, in front of a crowd of 10,221 at Byrd Stadium on Saturday.

Scott and Morgan Green are expected to split carries this season, with Green listed atop the depth chart.

“It gives me a lot more confidence to know what I need to work on,” Scott said. “I can watch tape and figure out what I need to do.”

The quarterback situation remains unsettled for the Terrapins. Jordan Steffy, who was the starter entering last season, was 14-for-23 for 155 yards and a touchdown. Chris Turner, who took over last season when Steffy got injured, was 6-for-8 for 91 yards.

“I didn't think any of them had the day I was hoping for,” Friedgen said. “I'm looking for a factor to separate them and I really can't see that right now.”

Offensive linemen and special teams players were part of the Black team and split time between both teams.

Turner led the Terrapins to the Emerald Bowl last year, but will enter training camp this fall still competing for the starting job.

“It’s only fair that it's a competition,” he said. “Do I feel like I have momentum? Do I feel like I have a leg up? Sure. But we'll have to see what the reality is.”
