The 28-year-old man was pronounced dead after a driver rushed him to the Washington Adventist Hospital in Takoma Park, according to a Metropolitan Police Department report.

Man struck by a car, killed at Riverdale party

Prince George’s County police are trying to determine how a man struck by a car during a fight outside a large party was killed early Sunday morning.

When uninvited men showed up for a large party on the 5600 block of 67th Avenue in Riverdale, a fight ensued and spilled out into the street. A 23-year-old man was struck by a car and killed.

“We don’t know if [the fatal injuries] came from the fight or from the car,” said Cpl. Clinton Copeland, a police spokesman. Police said they would investigate what caused the violence in the party and would not rule out the possibility of gang involvement. – Dan Genz

Maryland man charged in Woodbridge shooting

Charles County authorities arrested a White Plains man on suspicion of shooting a Woodbridge man Friday afternoon.

Jerry Leon Thompson, 37, drove to the 12700 block of Lotte Drive in Woodbridge, entered the apartment of a man who was an acquaintance of his wife and shot him before driving back to southern Maryland, said Prince William County police spokeswoman Erika Hernandez.

After lengthy negotiations, Thompson surrendered to the Charles County Sheriff’s Office. The man who was shot was flown to a hospital for treatment. Thompson has been charged with aggravated malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and being a fugitive from justice. – Dan Genz
