18-year-old woman missing in Fairfax County

Fairfax County police say an Oakton teenager has been missing since Saturday and may be in danger.

Sunny Dunn, 18, “may appear confused and in need of her medication,” the police said. She is 5-foot-3 inches tall and weighs 115 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. She is possibly wearing blue jeans with a white jacket and fur hood. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Solvers at 866-411-8477. – William C. Flook

Police warn of e-mail scam

Scam e-mails that seek to extort money from recipients by claiming the sender was paid to kill them have been circulating around Fairfax County in recent months, police warn.

The messages seek personal and financial information by claiming the victims could pay a fee to spare their lives. Anyone who receives the e-mails is asked to report them to the Internet White Collar Crime Center at ic3.gov. – William C. Flook

Scaffolding collapses on D.C. worker

A construction worker remained in critical condition Monday evening after scaffolding collapsed on him at a work site in downtown Washington, officials said.

The man was reportedly working at a site near the intersection of 20th and L streets Monday morning when the incident occurred.

According to D.C. Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services spokesman Alan Etter, the worker lost consciousness at about 7:30 a.m. Firefighters then performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation on him, which allowed the man to regain consciousness. As of about 5 p.m., Etter said the man was still in a local hospital in critical condition. – Dena Levitz

Bloods indicted in Maryland

Twenty-eight alleged members of the Tree Top Piru Bloods gang were indicted by a federal grand jury on charges of conspiracy to distribute drugs and gun violations, the U.S. attorney for the District of Maryland said Monday after eight of the defendants were arrested. Fourteen were already in custody and the rest remain at large. The indictment says members of the TTP Bloods operated throughout Maryland, including Baltimore and the Eastern Shore.
