Hit-and-run kills Maryland woman
WASHINGTON -

A hit-and-run accident claimed the life of an 18-year-old Oxon Hill, Md., woman Saturday morning.

The woman, Darrnita Byrd, was crossing the street at the intersection of Southern Avenue and South View Drive when she was struck by a speeding 2002 Toyota Avalon going approximately 80 miles per hour, according to Officer Joshua Aldiva.

According to police, a preliminary investigation revealed the Toyota had been reported stolen in Prince George’s County.

Police arrested four 14-year-old juveniles and charged them with unauthorized use of a vehicle. The case remains under investigation.
