According to a new report out by the Center of Excellence for Early Childhood Development , children who attended preschool and received appropriate interventions were at less risk for violence. The study focused on children in Canada but the same principles in the study are very much at work in the Phoenix area. Specific programs such as Arizona Headstart and center based learning environments (Kiddie Academy, Tutor Time, Kindercare, etc) all have vast resources and the training required to implement the recommendations from the CEECD.
A movement is afoot in Arizona to improve access to and quality of child care and in turn this movement, Quality First!, will ensure that all children have an opportunity to receive the interventions that CEECD is mentioning. Check to see if your child care center / preschool is enrolled in this exciting, state-funded program.
