Philosophy: Calvary Pre-School believes that each child grows and develops at his/her own pace according to his/her own inner clock plus his/her outside experiences. Our goal is to assist each child to develop physically, mentally, and emotionally at his/her own pace. We provide a safe, warm and caring environment in which children can experience security and develop trust and confidence as they acquire new skills and learn to play with and enjoy others. We know that children learn through play. For the young child, play is his/her work. Through play activities, he/she grows and learns how to relate to his world. Play is the pre-schooler’s life if she/he is to be a vital, growing, creative individual.

Requirements: Calvary Pre-School is licensed by the State of Wisconsin for children between 2-1/2 and 6 years of age. Children must be thoroughly toilet trained to be enrolled.

Costs/Fees: Our four hour program cost for the 2009/2010 school term is $22.50 per day which includes a snack and milk for lunch. Field trips are an additional fee. Calvary Pre-School offers four different payment plans – Annual, Semester, Monthly or Budget. Upon enrollment, an enrollment fee of $50 per child ($75 if enrolling two or more children) is charged which is non-refundable and does not apply toward tuition.

Curriculum: Calvary Pre-School uses a “theme” base curriculum. Each school year in the month of January the school takes an imaginary to a different country. Please refer to the school calendar on our website for particular weekly curriculum and the country we will be visiting in January, 2010.

Typical Day: Calvary Pre-School operates five days a week, Monday through Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The children and their parents are greeted each morning at 10:30 a.m. by the Director. The day usually begins with circle time where children enjoy a story, song, or finger play. The group will discuss the calendar, weather and the day’s activities. After circle time a variety of interest centers are set up in the classrooms that include art, messy box, large and small manipulatives, dramatic play, and math/science/nature centers. Between noon and 1:00 p.m. the children will have lunch. The two younger groups prepare for lunch and eat before the older children. In the afternoon (1-2:20 p.m.) the children participate in the following: large motor time, music and movement, and small group activities. At 2:20 p.m. the children prepare for dismissal. School ends at 2:30 p.m.

Other information: Calvary Pre-School is a licensed non-profit school established in 1968 to provide a quality program for pre-school children in the community that is based on the Christian principles of loving, caring and sharing. Our Staff and Director meet or exceed all state educational requirements and work together to aid in the total development of children. Calvary Pre-School is run by the Calvary Pre-School Board of Directors. It consists of seven (7) elected and appointed members and up to five (5) advisors. Elected and/or appointed positions include: two (2) Parent Representatives. These members serve without pay. Our program involves the basic skill areas and concepts in art, language arts, mathematics, music, science, physical fitness and social studies. Each day the teachers post the lesson plan for their classroom. The school offers the option to have the daily lesson plan emailed to the parents. We are excited and proud to tell everyone that we have been in early childhood education for more than 40 years.
