What does your spiritual footprint look like? Photo-wordpress.com
We make a living by what we get; we make a life by what we give. –Winston Churchill
Most of my adult life was spent in the Marine Corps. Long before people started talking about ecological footprints or carbon footprints, the Marine Corps talked about footprints. Specifically, the Corps was sent to hotspots because the Marine’s could leave a small footprint. If an embassy needed to be evacuated, a specialized force would come ashore, extract the noncombatants, and take them to ships or an airfield for further evacuation. Just over the horizon was a much larger force in case things went badly.
The force was ashore, executed its mission, and returned many times in different locations with most of the world unaware what had occurred until it was over. That’s a small footprint. That was the mission.
We will all leave a spiritual footprint. What will it look like? Will the world hardly know that we were here? Will we have produced fruit for the Body of Christ? Will we have blessed others with what God blessed us with?
Here are today’s make it count moments.
Think of a recent experience when your spiritual beliefs led to a practical application of serving others.
What need in others did the experience meet?
What need in you did it meet?
How do you usually respond on your sins and shortcomings?
Does this typically drive you towards God’s grace or deeper into hiding?
How do you usually respond to the flaws and sins of others?
What’s the correlation between how you view your own sin and how you view the sin of others?
Now let’s transition to the make it last for life moments.
1.Think of a loved one who has passed away. How would you describe his or her spiritual legacy?
2.What would you like to emulate about this person’s legacy?
3.What would you like to avoid?
4.Spend time with God in prayer and confession. Ask him to reveal His grace to you in a new way, one that helps you better grasp the fullness of his love for you.
5.Go to someone that you have offended or hurt and ask for forgiveness.
6.Is there anyone who needs forgiveness?
7.Reflect on the high price that God paid to forgive you, and then ask him what action he wants you to take in relationship to that person.
